Job Description: The Registered Nurse identifies and treats student health disorders and provides education and guidance in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention. The Registered Nurse's duty of care includes evaluating, monitoring, and recording the physical conditions of students and referring students to appropriate resources as needed. Decisions made by this employee require discretionary judgment and analysis. The work of the Registered Nurse requires independent decision making, a professional and friendly attitude, and effective communication. REGISTERED NURSE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide appropriate primary health care and nursing intervention based on standing medical orders and through a clinical protocol, including assessment, care, referral and support.
• Administer medication to appropriate students, after obtaining parental permission and a doctor’s order for prescription medication ensuring proper documentation of same, monitoring students for side effects and reactions.
• Maintain accurate and complete student health records, monitoring, reporting, and recording symptoms or changes in patient condition while adhering to precise documentation protocols.
• Perform assessment and treatment of health needs of student body as presented to the health center.
• Make referrals to School resources as necessary including counseling.
• Collect information for State reports.
• Regularly communicate with, parents, faculty/administration exhibiting skill in diplomacy tact, discretion, and sensitivity.
• Work collaboratively with other Health Center staff, assessing, implementing, and planning patient nursing care plans.
• Remain reachable and available to report to the Health Center within 1 hour during scheduled on-call hours.
• Attend in-service sessions, department meetings, and staff meetings as needed or requested.
Compliance Credentials Needed for Submission:
- Current CT RN License – compact allowed
- Current AHA BLS
Skills Checklist from within the past 12 months
- Drivers License
- EMR Experience (Include years of experience, and systems used)
- Final RTO
- Resume
- Two Supervisory References from the past two years of employment
Hours Per Week: 36
Shift 7:00PM - 7:30AM
Weekend Requirements: No weekends
On-Call Requirements: No Call
Travel Hourly Pay: $25.00
Travel Stipend: $1100.00
Travel Weekly Package: $2000.00
Local Hourly Pay: $50.00
Local Weekly Package: $1800.00
